26 Highest Suicidal Cities in the World

Here is another thrilling topic, the list of the highest suicidal cities in the world. Insider Monkey has recently published an interesting article about it. Suicide rates for men are on average about four times as big as suicide rates for women. Usually follow up to that is that women have twice as many attempted suicides as men. And the explanation for that is, that they use less effective methods than men because they think about how they will look afterward. Unfortunately I could see my home country on Insider Monkey’s compilation, too. Budapest, our capital city ranks 13th with our sad statistics….

Committing suicide isn’t something we can neglect. Most of the time there are signs we should see that somebody may kill herself or himself, and we should recognize these signs in order to be able to help them. Couple of months ago an old lady hanged herself behind my little farm, in the  beginning of the forest. I also ran to help her to survive but unfortunately it was too late, and she died. Her son was also there and as I was watching them two, I was thinking why that old lady decided to commit suicide…. I will never find the answer, but it touched my heart. We should take care of our relatives, friends, and acquaintances much more.

Now without a further ado let’s see what Insider Monkey has investigated for us. We have picked three of the highest suicidal cities in the world  from their list.

The first one is Riga (Latvia). Latvia is among the European countries with the highest suicide rate. Around 111 people die from suicide, every year in Riga, the number 24 on our list of highest suicidal cities in the world. The second city on our list now is Lomé (Togo). Taking into consideration Togo’s suicide rate, which is 15.4 per 100.000 people, and the population of Lomé, the estimate is that around 129 people commit suicide in this city every year. At last, but not least we are mentioning Vilnius (Lithuania). In OECD ranking of countries based on suicide rates, Lithuania comes far ahead, having the suicide rate of 26.1 per 100.000 people. Around 141 people die from suicide in Vilnius every year.
