10 Largest Telecom Companies in The World by Revenue

Since the telecommunication industry is the witness of one of the fastest growing technological development, which is why we are going through the 10 largest telecom companies by revenue today.

Until the first communication device has hit the market, it was really hard for people to stay in touch. To talk to someone other than people you lived with, you had to go to their house and guess the right time they are at home. Communicating with someone who is abroad or just in a different town was even harder. The only media those people had were letters that took at least a week before arriving in the right hands. Now, with the whole development of media, this all became really handy.

As always, users are given a wide choice of options and their decision is mostly based on the price and the quality of the service. Today, we are going to talk about the telecom companies with the highest number of revenue. It is important to know that the high number of subscribers doesn’t necessarily mean the high revenue because it all depends on the price of the service.

Not that surprisingly, among the largest telecom companies by revenue is China Mobile Ltd (ADR) (NYSE: CHL). This $107.8 billion worth Telecom Company has been dominating the Chinese mobile services since 1997 and it still controls 70% of the whole Chinese mobile market. Just in two years, in the period from 2014 to 2016, it gained 28 million more subscribers and, in May 2016, there have been 835 million subscribers of China Mobile Ltd (ADR) (NYSE: CHL). It is the state-owned company that enjoys the protectionist benefits from the government itself and it has reached the market capitalization of $228 billion.

Of course, none of the lists of the largest telecom companies can go without AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T). This company was ranked number one in this list with the revenue of $146.8 billion in 2015 and the highest market capitalization of $258 billion the same year.  AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) is also one of the companies with the highest number of subscribers, which isn’t that surprising, giving the fact that at least once a year, the company includes some upgrades or even the innovations that have never hit the market before. Besides the mobile and fixed telephone services, AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) provides the broadband television services and it announced the launching of 5G wireless. Besides that, it is expected to acquire Time Warner Inc. anytime soon.
