The video games industry is now worth $100 billion and, according to the Statista, the daily time spent on games by the US residents was 23.2 minutes in 2013. This doesn’t seem like much, but giving the fact that this is the average number of all citizens, not just the gamers, it seems like too much. Especially when you check the data from 2008 and realize that this number has increased for 5.4 in just five years. It is estimated that this figure will rise to 28.3 by the end of 2018. So what are the most successful games of all times?

According to the Insider Monkey’s research, the latest released game that came across as one of the highest grossing video games of all time is Puzzle & Dragons by GungHo Online Entertainment. This puzzle game gained the most achievement in Japan and it is the first mobile puzzle game to hit $1 billion in revenue and has been downloaded more than 50 million times. Nowadays, its worth is estimated to $3.85 billion. The game is popular among all ages and genders and there are many streamers earning a lot of money just by playing this puzzle game and posting it online.

But just because something is new and trendy, it doesn’t mean that it will beat all the 20th-century video games as soon as it hits the market. Look at the Pac-Man as the example. it was released in 1980 and only 2 years later, around 30 million people in the US only have been playing it on a regular basis. For now, its worth is estimated to the incredible $4.47 billion.

Of course, the World of Warcraft always has to be mentioned in lists like this because of the addiction it causes to all players. It has around 10 million subscribers, which is slightly less in comparison to the number of subscribers from 2011, which was around 12 million, but it still has the highest revenue of all video games in the world: $9.23 billion. At the beginning of this post, I said that the video game industry is now worth around $100 billion. Out of those $100 billion, $60.7 billion are earned by these 12 highest grossing video games of all time.
