15 Countries with the Lowest Average IQs in the World

We are coming up with a new list of the countries with the lowest average IQs in the world. Insider Monkey has recently published an interesting article about it. How do scientists measure IQ of a nation? Researchers usually take part of the population as an experimental base (as they cannot approach all the people) and calculate its average IQ. In this particular matter, IQ is usually measured by using logical and mathematical reasoning tests.  IQ test can be a little stressful as people usually don’t like being tested. There are lots of questions which have to be answered in a certain time. I was extremely curious which country had the lowest IQ based on average national IQ. What do you think? Can you guess the number one? Is your country also in Insider Monkey’s list?

Of course, there’s also the issue of whether or not IQ is a good measure of intelligence, i.e., whether a single number can represent the complexities of the human brain.

Now without a further ado let’s see what Insider Monkey has investigated for us. We have picked three countries with the lowest average IQs in the world from their list.

The first one on our list is São Tomé and Príncipe, where average IQ is 67, Change in Education Index is 9.07%. An island nation with merely 200,000 citizens residing within it, São Tomé and Príncipe comes next on our list of countries with the lowest average IQs in the world. The next item now can be Gambia, where average IQ is 66, Change in Education Index is 8.81%. The estimated 2 million people in Gambia don’t seem to have the greatest IQ levels giving the nation the 9th spot among countries with the lowest average IQs in the world. Saint Kitts and Nevis is the next ones on our list, where average IQ is 67, Change in Education Index is 0%. At last, but not least let’s see the numbers of Guinea-Bissau, where average IQ is 67, Change in Education Index is 0%.Guinea-Bissau and Saint Kitts and Nevis have the exact same IQ, and both have shown no improvement in education index over the years.
