While there are best places to live for nurses, where they get their insurance, flexible working hours, and salary high enough, there are also places where nurses are not appreciated at all. They work for 12 hours per a day and don’t have any benefits, including the big enough salary. They just work to survive, while they struggle with everyday expenses and work-life balance.

To get the right idea about the best places to live for nurses, there were several criteria to be taken into consideration. One of them was, of course, the average annual wage and the cost of living. But one more important thing had to be considered and that was the percentage of nurses who work 8-hour shifts.

Of course, none of the countries that were ranked on this list had it all.  But, the final equation told the difference. So now, there is Spain, that was ranked first on the list of 16 best places to live for nurses in 2017, that had 90% of all nurses who worked 8-hour shifts. The cost of living in Spain is still officially 61.55, which is pretty low since the normal cost of living is concerned to be 100. But, the average salary in Spain is only $29,600. Although it isn’t that big of a deal since the costs are very low.

And if you thought that $29,600 for a salary in Spain isn’t that low, what would you say if I told you that the US is offering the average salary of $67,930 to nurses? But, on the other hand, although this salary sounds a lot better, the percentage of nurses who worked 8-hour shifts is only 26. So, when it comes to these two, which one would you prefer? When Insider Monkey made this list, they ranked Spain higher, because of a better condition of the cost of living and the percentage of nurses who worked 8-hour shifts.

But if you, on the other hand, prefer neither Spain or the US, here is the full list of 16 best places to live for nurses in 2017 so take your pick.
