The first parameter that was used for ranking 10 best places to retire in Baja Mexico was the rush and the crowd in a town. So, each place got between 0 and 2 points, depending on how quiet the neighborhoods are. As you may already assume, the ones that were more peaceful got more points.

The second one was insurance and healthcare. Towns that have no medical facilities at all were given zero points, towns that contain only small clinics got one point, while completely equipped towns with hospitals and ambulance got a maximum of 2 points.

Since Mexico is known for a heat and we all know how weather can affect someone’s life, the next parameter was related to the weather, and more points went to towns that were cooler, because, let’s be honest, no one can stand a heat longer than a week. So, when you see that some town got 2 out of 2 points, be sure that the average temperature out there is below 80°F, while the ones with the average temperature between 80°F and 90°F earned 1 point. Each town warmer than 90°F got zero points.

The next one is the crime rate. Of course, no one wants to live in a place where there are smugglers behind every corner, but, face it, there is no such a place that has 0 crime rate in the world and you are never completely safe, no matter where you go. But this is one more parameter that people think it is important when finding the new place to live, so here it is, black on white on the list. Luckily, there are only two places on the list with zero points in this area, but there are not so bad either, which is why they earned to be on the list of top 10.

Even though the number of parameters was changed a bit while making this list, there are certain things that shouldn’t be changed ever, and one of them is the cost of living index. Since no one wants to spend the rest of their life struggling financially, the research team also ranked places with highest and lowest costs of living and included it on the list.

And the last, but not least important is the shopping. No matter how old you are, shopping is one of the things that everyone enjoys. And this parameter is extremely important to the ones enjoying the weekend shopping, which is why it is put on the list as well.

So now, after I explained the whole methodology, I now present you 10 best places to retire in Baja Mexico!
