10 Colleges With The Highest STD Rates in America

So what are the colleges with the highest STD rates in America? Insider Monkey has recently published an interesting article about this topic. The Centers for Disease Control has recently noticed an increase the number of college students experiencing sexually transmitted diseases in the the past couple of years in the United States. The three most common STDs with this increase were chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. Their study also estimates that nearly 20 million new sexually transmitted infections happen each year in the U.S. Among half of those, 20 million they say, affects young people ages 15-24. As you can see, a good chunk of that age group includes college students. The number of people who have STDs is per 100,000 while the number of a sexual assault is per 10,000. Obviously this list is meant to be informative, and you should not base your decision as to which university to attend off this list. It’s important to note that STDs are at every university and a high rate of STDs does not reflect upon a university’s academic strengths.

Now without a further ado let’s see what Insider Monkey has investigated for us. We have picked three colleges from their list.

The first one is University of Notre Dame, with STD rate of 397. The University of Notre Dame is one of the least healthy universities in America with 397 people with STDs per 100,000. This number is -5% less than the national average, but it is still one of the least healthy. The sexual health rate in this university is 3.46%. The sexual assaults at the University of Notre Dame are 11.8 per 10,000 which is +89% the national average. The secon done is Texas Christian University, with STD rate of 601. The next spot on our list took the Texas Christian University. At this university, the sexual health rate is 3.59% and 601 person from 100,000 has STD. This number is +44% more than the national average number of people with STDs. When it comes to sexual assaults in this university, it has 10.4 per 10,000 people which is +66% more than the national average. Probably not what you would expect with a Christian university. Tah last one is Southern Methodist University with STD rate of 818. Another religious-affiliated university on our list. Southern Methodist University also found its place on our list because the sexual health rate here is 3.13%. 818 per 100,000 people have an STD which is +96% more of the national average. 6.3 people per 10,000 have it from sexual assaults which is +1% more by the national average.
