Today we are discussing the 10 largest cobalt producing countries in the world. Insider Monkey have made the research work for us, so we don’t need to do anything else, but to read on.
As for me, I have always found chemistry far beyond me, and have never been able to learn perdiodic table by heart. But cobalt – our main character for today is in Group 9, Block D and has the symbol of Co. When I first read the artice about cobalt, I tried to gather what I can remember about cobalt, but I didn’t have too much memory related to this chemical element.
Firstly, let’s see an overview on its history and importance in order to understand why it is essential to produce. A Swedish chemist, called Georg Brandt discovered this material, and later he named as the “semi-metal” and “Cobalt”. It’s been used for reaching a beautiful blue color to gaze, glass and ceramics. It was also used in Pompeii, Egyptian sculpture, Persian jewelry, China, most notably from the Tang and Ming Dynasty. Vincent Van Gogh also liked to use while painting. Nowadays it’s used in gas turbine generators, jet turbines, electroplating, pottery and enamels, glass, porcelain, and in paint.
As for its prices, in the first seven months of 2019 cobalt’s price decreased, because of oversupply. Last August, a producer with Swiss headquarters, announced that the company were going to take its world-leading cobalt mine on care-and-maintenance. Right after this announcement, cobalt prices went up and then it was stable. Now, let’s read on the 10 largest cobalt producing countries in the world.
