10 Neighborhoods With The Highest HIV Rates in NYC Boroughs

Did you know that there are New York City’s neighborhoods where there are more than 10,000 people living with the HIV virus? Don’t you believe me? Then take a look at 10 neighborhoods with the highest HIV rates in NYC boroughs.

HIV is extremely contagious and, until today, scientists couldn’t find the way for people to get cured or even avoid getting the virus in their body. People can get contagious through the blood system or by having an unprotected intercourse with the person that is already contacted with the virus. The only known way, for now, to get protected is to always use condoms during the intercourse, especially with the people who you have just met. Just in case, people should get checked from time to time.

Unfortunately, even if a person finds out that he or she carries this virus in his or her blood system, there is no cure, so they would have to live with it for the rest of their life. Fortunately for these people, HIV is not that deadly nowadays as it used to be, which is why there are many people older than 60 still alive and living completely normal life.

People who have to be checked out most frequently are prostitutes and people working in a porn industry. Actors and actresses working in a porn industry are obligated to give blood and test themselves for the virus every few months, depending on the company they are working for.

The biggest problem is the kids. First of all, teenagers are the keenest to have the unsafe sex, first of all, because they sometimes don’t think straight and second of all, because they usually don’t have the money to buy condoms. Besides them, there are many toddlers with the HIV because their mother or a father had it. So, as I said before, be careful and always use condoms!

But, on the other hand, I am not here to give you lectures about unsafe sex and who you should or shouldn’t date. To be fair, people with HIV are still people. They should have their own families, job, and friends. They are just some sort of sick, but hanging out with them doesn’t mean that you will automatically get contagious as well.

I am getting distracted again since this wasn’t the point of the post. The point was informing you about neighborhoods with the highest HIV rate. To see those ones, check out Insider Monkey’s list of 10 neighborhoods with the highest HIV rates in NYC boroughs
