11 Affordable Cooking Classes in NYC

Would you like to surprise your family and friends with some unique dinner? Well these 11 affordable cooking classes in NYC can help you out with that.

Remember that time where, from time to time, the whole family would gather around, bringing different dishes and drinks, and you would all enjoy spending some quality time together? There were always all generations together, sharing stories and opinions, children would play around, sometimes accidentally breaking something, while the adults would occasionally drink one too many glasses of wine and started babbling about the things no one would like to know, but everyone would keep listening and laughing out loud. Those were great times but nowadays is a bit different.

Most of the families can’t even catch each other to have a joined meal. Children have their own friends, they avoid grandparents unless they bring them some money that can buy around half an hour of their time. After that, they have a play date on the street and their family won’t see them until the dark. Teenagers especially hate family events and they would rather sit in their rooms with headphones on, looking at the selling instead of sitting with an old boring aunt who keeps asking too many personal questions that they even don’t discuss with their parents.

Let’s face it, even adults avoid each other as much as they can. They would rather spend Sunday with their TV screens or be in love with their pillows than serving coffee and competing whose child got the better grades this week and how long will they keep waiting to have another child. Like, when their children become parents?

Because of all of that, family time became either friends time or me time. Which actually is better, considering the fact that you can choose your own friends, but you can’t choose who you are stuck with as a family member.
The only disadvantage is that children are missing out to get to know each other, which is why many of them nowadays don’t even know who their family is. And teenagers date as well. Can you imagine what would happen if they would run into their cousin not knowing they are related and went out for a drink? Grows!

So, it seems that bringing back the Sunday lunch tradition isn’t such a bad idea. But, let me tell you something, if you attend some of these classes, the most annoying aunt in the world won’t have the guts to ask you about your potential newborn. So let’s keep their mouth shut with dishes learned at some of the 11 affordable cooking classes in NYC.
