We are all conformists in a way and sometimes it is easier to just go with the flow and politely agree with someone’s opinion. After all, our environment is usually such that we are surrounded by people of similar opinions and interests. However, should you wish to spark a debate, you’ve come to the right place. With these controversial debate topics, you’ll stir up the atmosphere in no time!

Now without a further ado let’s see what Insider Monkey has investigated for us. We have picked three of controversial questions for debate and persuasive writing from their list.

Now let’s see the first controversial topic: “Should performance enhancing drugs be accepted in sports?” Maria Sharapova, Lance Armstrong, Ben Johnson – these are only a few of famous athletes banned for steroid use. I think every each of athletes uses some kind of drugs, therefore everybody should stop using them if we want to get a satisfying result.  Do you think it was fair, or there is a thin line between approved and illegal substances? The next controversial topis on our list now should be “Should animals be used for scientific or commercial testing?” With increasing awareness about the animal treatment in laboratories, more and more companies are praising themselves for not using our furry friends. As for me, I have lots of animals: six dogs, four cats, goats, chickens, geese, ducks, and other, I do think we should stop testing on animals! I understand that there are fields (cancer research) where it may be important, but the other fields are unnecessary. What’s the other option? At last, but not least let’s check out “Should students have to wear school uniforms?” Now here is a good one for debate topics for middle school. An issue which never becomes too boring to discuss with teenagers. On the other hand it’s an evergreen topic. When I was a teenager we discussed this issue, too. Now when I’m an adult i think uniform is great thing. Schools should keep this tradition.
