Every person older than 40 will tell you that there are no jobs with great health insurance benefits without a degree. But what if I told you that they are wrong?
When our parents and grandparents were young, they lived almost by the rule: go to college and, as soon as you have the degree in your hands, there will be a job opening for you. I really don’t know whether that was true or not but I know that either way, we don’t live in those times anymore.
Sure, all employers would prefer a person with a college degree instead of someone who worked in a field until recently but we all know that a degree doesn’t necessarily allude the knowledge. We forgot what the college really is. The point really is finishing it and holding the official degree. But there is also a path to be walked through before you get it. Newer generations believe that college period is the time when we should all have as much fun as we can before we finish the studying and enter the life of adults. I don’t say that you shouldn’t take all the advantage of experimenting during the college years but you should also study. I know, I sound like your grandmother but I am right and you know it. There is no point in having a degree if you don’t know anything you read during all those years of studying.
Newer generations know what I am talking about, which is why many of them refuse to go to college in the first place. I don’t really think that this is always the best option but some people are just not meant for studying the whole life. Besides, not many of us are going to be alive long enough to see their first retirement check. Not because of the shorter longevity of life but because the boundary for fulfilling all the criteria for getting the retirement is upper every year. Sometimes, it really isn’t worth it.
When it comes to the insurance, even the public companies aren’t properly paying the insurance policies for their employees and people working at some public position know this the best. On the other hand, not every private company that doesn’t require the college degree doesn’t pay the insurance policy.
