Remember the time when we cleared the whole day just to spend time in malls, wandering from one boutique to another, seeking for the right outfit just for no reason, and buy a few more combinations, just in case?
Men around the world hatted this and they all said that women could get some better and cheaper hobby. They obviously didn’t realize that this kind of therapy was a lot cheaper than going to the actual psychologists who will charge you big time and schedule you as many appointments as they could.
This whole shopping thing was actually both useful and healthy. First of all, no matter how big and full your closet was, there was always room for at least one new dress. Besides, you don’t need to rush it when you have to attend some big event. Imagine you had some wedding to go to and you don’t feel like shopping (like that ever happened twice in a week) and there is nothing in any store that creates that ‘WOW!’ effect on you. What to do? Just to buy whatever dress you find, even though you don’t feel hot and pleasant in it? This way, you can clear your head, open your closet, and just pick something that you never wore before.
And what about the healthy part? It is scientifically proven that women feel good about themselves when they look good and there is no better way to feel good about yourselves than by changing tons of different outfits, even the ones you can’t afford and admire you how good you look in something. This might sound stupid but if you have ever tried it, you would know what I am talking about. If not, you definitely need to try it sometimes.
But how come these malls seem to be emptier every day? If we don’t count teenagers hanging out after school, how many people actually shop these days? Now, everything is viral and there is no surprise that women have that many clothes in their closet that they won’t wear ever in their lives. And who would? They saw it on a model and never tried it on. They just clicked on ‘Buy’ and, within a few days, their new outfit was on their doorsteps. Although I don’t see it as the perfect solution (even though I am too lazy to go shopping), it seems that these online retailers have many satisfied customers and the long run of sales. The way I see it, online retailers are on the good path to take over the fashion industry.
