This article will bring you to the list of countries with the highest teenage pregnancy rates in developed world. Insider Monkey has recently published an interesting article about it. It’s surprising to think that teenage pregnancy rates in developed countries are high despite all the conditions which the Third World countries are lacking. First of all, there’s education. Rich, stable countries invest a big part of their budget in education the youth, and sexual education is definitely receiving funds. In addition, the living standard is high, so the cost of contraception can’t be said to be an obstacle. What is more, girls are encouraged to take care of their health and going to the gynecologist is perfectly common in teen years. How come then that so many teenagers are ending up pregnant? That’s probably what all these countries are asking when they look at, for instance, the highest teenage pregnancy rate by county. As for what country has the world’s lowest rates of teenage pregnancy, that would be Switzerland. Whatever their system is, they’re obviously doing something right since they’re famous for having low figures compared to other countries.
Now without a further ado let’s see what Insider Monkey has investigated for us. We have picked three countries with the highest teenage pregnancy rates in developed world from their list.
The first one is France, where the number of teen pregnancies is 47,900. Now, here is a serious number. Indeed, France’s population is over 60 million people, but still… The second country on our short list should be Iceland, where the number of teen pregnancies is 300,000. It’s a tiny number compared to the others, but 300 pregnant teens is a lot when you think Iceland’s population is only a bit over 300,000. at last, but not least, here comes my home country, Hungary. It’s very sad that we are on lists like this. I think we should improve in this field, too. In Hungary the number of teen pregnancies is 11, 600 and it is somewhere in the middle when it comes to abortions – 41%.
