17 Easiest Marathons for Beginners in US and Europe

If you like running you may be interested in the easiest marathons for beginners in US and Europe. Insider Monkey’s latest article will bring you to a list of great opportunities where you can try yourself. Marathon length was established  in the 20th century and it is a constant distance of 26.2 miles (42.195 km), and the first modern marathon was held in 1896 in Athens Olympic Games. This mileage was a tribute to ancient Greek marathons which were about 25 miles long. And why this long? The legend says that after Battle of Marathon , which was fought between ancient Greeks and Persians in 490 B.C., a herald soldier named Pheidippides was running for about 25 miles to spread the word about the Greek victory. Today’s marathons are held all over the world with variations such as half-marathon (13.1 miles, which is 21.1 km), or ultra-marathon (more than 26.2 miles or 42.195 km).

Now without a further ado let’s see what Insider Monkey has investigated for us. We have picked three of the marathons for beginners in US and Europe from their list.

The first one is Honolulu Marathon that is in December. Even if not being a completely easiest race, this is definitively a must-try marathon even for beginners, also being one of the biggest marathons in the world. It is a very popular destination for the first-time runners, for the scenery and great experience they get. The second marathon should be Arizona Rock’n’Roll Marathon that is in January in Phoenix, Arizona. If you don’t feel like running the whole marathon mileage there’s always opportunity to pick some of the other races this marathon offers: half-marathon, 10k, or 5k, but since it is a flat race, why don’t give it a try! The next one is held in Europe, Denmark – Copenhagen Marathon in May. What makes Copenhagen Marathon, one of the biggest sports events in Denmark among the easiest marathons for beginners in US and Europe is that it is flat, well, except a little rise after the 41st km, but it shouldn’t make you give up on this one. London Marathon is held nowhere else but in London, and it’s in April. London Marathon is one of the most popular marathons in Europe. It is a great experience and will be running in a rather crowded event; there is a beginner training plan on their website which would prepare you for the race.
