Telling you the truth, guys, the list of the 20 biggest producers of blueberries in the world has been my favorite ever, as my absolutely favorite fruit is the blueberry. I love it so much that even searching images for this list was a happiness for me. However blueberries are not only tasty fruit, but a billion dollar industry, as well. Blueberries weren’t so popular as bananas or apples a decade ago, but its demand is continuously growing.
Responding to this increasing demand, several countries have entered the blueberry production market, so there was an amazing 12.6% increase in production within only one year. The reason why its demand is growing that partly it’s delicious, partly it’s extremely healthy. It does good to you immunity system, and helps to protect against diseases. What’s more, it’s very helpful if somebody has diabetes.
Naturally, the market reacted to the increasing demand, so at the beginning its prices went up. It reached the peak in 2015, 2016 as a kilo of blueberries was $17 in the US. But production was increased also, so a slow decreasing in prices started. Then, in 2019 blueberry prices were under $4 in January. It’s quite unbelievable for me, as in my country blueberry prices have never been under $10 – $15.
And now, let’s check out the 20 biggest producers of blueberries in the world.
