5 Easiest Simple FM Transmitters to Make at Home

This article will bring you to the list of the easiest simple FM transmitters to make at home. Insider Monkey has recently published an interesting article about it giving you some advice. You may think that making an FM transmitter is a very difficult thing, but actually it isn’t. It can be a great weekend project, especially if you have kids and you can do it together. I remember that my mom told us when they were young, one her brothers made radio that worked (!) from potato…. When is first heard about it, it was incredible for me. Later on this brother of hers became an engineer in Canada. I think it’s always a great feeling to build up something with our hands, but I must confess I’m not into making FM transmitter, though it was a pleasure for me to read about it.

Now without a further ado let’s see what Insider Monkey has investigated for us. We have picked two of the easiest simple FM transmitters to make at home from their list.

The first way is FM Transmitter Kit. One of the easiest, simplest ways to make an FM transmitter is to buy this kit from BuildCircuit. It’s amateur friendly, so anyone should be able to use it. What you need for assembling this transmitter is a Q1 Transistor-2N3904, capacitors-4.7pF, 20 pF, 0.001uF, 22nF, a variable capacitor, resistors, an electret microphone, and an inductor. For the antenna, you can use a 15cm to a 1-meter long wire (the longer the antenna, the better the signal). This is a short range transmitter with a transmission range of about 10-20 meters. Follow the steps  you can find in Insider Monkey’s article and the FM transmitter circuit diagram, to make a super easy FM transmitter. The second way is Long Range FM Transmitter (Mini Spybug). If you wanted to know how to make long range FM transmitter, here’s a way to do that. For this project, you need solid gauge wire, electret microphone, a copper clad PCB, a transistor, and capacitors. You can check out the full list of parts in the long article. You will also need a pair of pliers, hot glue gun, and soldering iron. Check out the video below to see how this FM transmitter is made.
