After publishing about the largest pharma and biotech companies, Insider Monkey has come up with the list of the 5 largest chemical companies in the world. There are further sub-industries, such as Specialty Chemicals, Diversified Chemicals, Commodity Chemicals, Industrial Gases and Fertilizers & Agricultural Chemicals. Therefore, chemicals producers take part in wide range of segments of industries, from fertilizers for the agriculture industry to users of high value-added chemicals, adhesives, ultimately producing fine chemicals ,pigments and coatings additives, advanced polymers, sealants and specialty paints.
Chemicals industry supplies 25% of the GDP in the United States, and the US gives the 14% of the global chemicals. The largest chemicals companies in the country are Linde, Dow, LyondellBasell and DuPont. Although these companies have extremely large revenues, the pandemic hit of 2020 has bitterly beaten them, too. At first, on the second spot, here’s LyondellBasell (NYSE:LYB) with an amazing amount sales of $34,727 m in 2019 alone. The Netherlands headquartered LyondellBasell is the largest licensor of polyethylene and polypropylene technologies. Sinopec stands on the second spot of the largest chemical companies. It had a total sale of $63,244 m in 2019. Sinopac is the biggest dsitributor of petrochemicals in China, producing synthetic fiber monomers and polymers, synthetic fiber,synthetic resin, synthetic rubber and chemical fertilizers and many other products.
