There are various methods, techniques, and tactics that law enforcers and other officials use to get what they want from a certain subject. While some of them are “fair game,” and revolve around making the subject of interrogation feel comfortable with sharing important information, other can be deceptive and involve tricking the subject.

Now without a further ado let’s see what Insider Monkey has investigated for us. We have picked two techiques from their list. Do follows us for a thrilling tour on the paths of interrogation techniques.

The first one on our list is Reid Technique. This technique is mostly used by the law enforcers in the United States and has 3 phases. First two phases are fact and behavior analysis used to collect information and determine whether the subject is involved with the crime. If the information shows that the person indeed could be involved with the crime, interrogator turns to the third phase called “nine steps of interrogation.” These steps are designed in order to make the subject more comfortable in telling the truth. Although the Reid technique is considered efficient, some voices of concern associate the technique with false confessions. The second technique is PEACE Method. PEACE stands for “Preparation and Planning, Engage and Explain, Account, Closure and Evaluate.” Using PEACE, interrogator allows the subject to tell his story without interrupting him, later presenting the contradictions and inconsistencies in the story. Unlike some other techniques, PEACE doesn’t incorporate deception of the subject.
