People in their golden age usually have lots of time, and they like to try new things, which is a really good idea; therefore we have thought to show you Insider Monkey’s latest article about the 9 easiest instruments to learn late in life. I started to play the bassoon at the age of 15, which was pretty late to be a professional bassoonist. I had to give up the idea of becoming a pro bassoon player, but nevertheless this was one of the best times of my life. So, if you are a senior citizen, and are planning to start some kind of instrument, do not hezitate any more – you will see that playing on an instrument will give you many happy hours! Once you start it you will meet several other people with the same interest and you will make new friendships, too.

9. Drums

The drum is a basic percussion instrument that is known all over the world. However, not everyone is a good drummer, the ability of playing the drums is instinctive with most people. Nevertheless it’s an excellent idea for a senior to play the drums, as it makes the body active, and is a very pleasant form of  physical exercise.

8. Fiddle

A fiddle is very similar to the violin, so if you like violins, you will be happy with the fiddle, too. It is said to be one of the easiest instrument to play on, so don’t hezitate to try it. This instrument can feature with several genres such as metal, classic, Celtic, country music, or blues.

7. Harmonica

When I can see harmonica, I always remember the famous movie, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. I will never forget those harmonica tunes. In those times many people wanted to play the harmonica. If you were one of them, it’s your turn now! Don’t forget, it’s never too late!

6. Ukulele

Ukulele is easier to play than the guitar, so if you are not sure you have the ability to play the guitar, try ukulele! You won’t regret it!

Actually, a bongo is a little drum. You place it between your two knees, and beat it rhythmically. Bongos have a great advantage, they are much cheaper than drums.

Playing the bass guitar makes everyone remember rock bands, great concerts, and that girls love bass guitarists. Therefore, if you a senior but single and ready to meet someone special, bass guitar is surely for you!

2. Harp

Although I have never tried to play the harp, yet I am very surprised to see this instrument on this list. This large instruement is so graceful in its appearence, and its sounds are so magnetic that if you have chance to try it, I would recommend it to you.

 

1. Flute

Flute tops the list of the 9 easiest instruments to learn late in life now. As for me, I think the flute has the most beautiful sopran sounds in the world. If my favourite instrument weren’t the bassoon, then the flute would. I recommend you to consider choosing the flute, by all means.
