Are you afraid of the great SAT? Do you think you’re ready for it? The SAT has four sections: Reading, Writing and Language, Math (no calculator), and Math (calculator allowed). The test taker may optionally write an essay which, in that case, is the fifth test section. The total time for the scored part of the SAT is three hours, or three hours and fifty minutes if the optional essay section is taken. Some test takers who are not taking the essay may also have a fifth section which is used, least in part, for the pretesting of questions that may appear on future administrations of the SAT. One of the most notable names and one of the biggest ones that relate to the great SAT is Shaan Patel. He felt ashamed that the little budget motel his parents owned and rented by the hour increased as their home. He tended Clark High School, where a majority of students are disadvantaged, and nearly a third miss to meet U.S. educational standards in reading and math. Some 40% of students in the community drop out. Patel has come to include his training as a unique part of his childhood. The first time Shaan took SAT, he scored 1760, which was not enough to set him on the path he chose for himself. He spent thousands and thousands of hours trying to find ways to improve his SAT record. All the hard work paid off, and next time he took the test, Shaan had perfect 2400.
