Top 10 Largest Copper Producing Countries in the World

Today we are continuing our informing articles with the list of the  top 10 largest copper producing countries in the world. Insider Monkey has made a great research work, as usual- hence you don’t need to do anything else, but to sit in your armchair comfortably with a glass of wine in hand and read through the list with us. At first, let’s see why copper is so important in our everyday life. It’s used in motors, electrical wiring, and making coins – actually all American cions are made of copper alloys.

Perhaps you would think that US will top this list, but actually Chile produces four times more copper than the United States. We have already written about the reasons of this phenomenon, since many companies in the US oursources producing of several minerals to those countries where workforce is much cheaper, and the laws are lenient and permissive.

If we check out the numbers in the US, we can see that copper production has increased by 6% from in the last two years. Intristingly, the value of copper production has decreased by $0.6 billion, because copper prices became lower. It was Arizan that produced the most copper, actually 68% of the total amount inland.

According to Insider Monkey’s research, indentified resources presently countain about 2.1 billion tons of copper, and the unidentified ones contain about 3.5 billion tons. If the undiscovered deposits are identified the largest compenies will grow bigger, and they will make higher profits. However you will see that there are no new players in this list, either – as all of these countries could be found in our former articles, too, which were about other minerals, such as gold, lithium, silicon and so on.
